Karen's Company Paints it Forward

Happy Holidays! We hope everyone has had a lovely holiday season. We thought we would take this opportunity to let you guys know about a cool service project we did this past month! Our community is one of the fundamental building blocks of our business. Without our community there would be no Karen’s Company. So, we try to give back to our community at least once a year by volunteering our time to a good cause. Our volunteer work has often been at schools in the past and this year was no different.
Karen’s received an email from the PCA, Painting Contractors Association, about a cool program that they do called Paint it Forward. Painting companies and contractors across America volunteer their time to do community service projects of their choosing and can often get paint or materials donated to them for those projects. We decided to pick a school we haven’t done work for in the past, Centaurus High School, in Lafayette, Colorado. Our operations manager decided to get in contact with Centaurus to see if there was any painting they needed done and they were ecstatic! They had a teacher’s work room with old wallpaper they wanted to get rid of and paint a new color. The front office blue walls need to be touched up from dings over the years. A stairway whose railing paint had started to wear out as well as the walls had been scuffed from the constant scuttling of teenagers up and down. There was a wall in the mail room they wanted to turn into an accent wall as well as an alternate entrance with tall walls that needed a fresh coat of paint. And finally, there was a large science room that desperately needed a fresh coat of paint. We added up the work hours and decided we could do all the work they wanted done!
Next, we had to acquire paint for our project. We contacted Benjamin Moore and they generously gifted us all the paint we needed for our project through our local Guiry’s paint store! What a fantastic gift! When we reached out to Centaurus, we made plans to do the work the week of Thanksgiving, while the students were away on vacation. We had such a fantastic time working for a good cause and it was so nice to give back to the community! #PCAsocial
